Civic Builders works alongside visionary educators and communities to bring great schools to life. Because when schools have the right foundation, students and communities thrive.
Our Vision
Every student deserves an excellent school today.
Our Mission
Civic Builders brings charter schools to life to fuel opportunity for generations.
We don't wait for change, we build it.
Every great school begins with a vision — a small group of educators, families, and community leaders determined to give students something better. But for too many, that vision stalls before the first bell ever rings. Not because of a lack of will or talent, but because of walls — the literal kind. Finding, building, and financing a school facility has long been one of the greatest barriers to delivering an excellent education.
That’s where Civic Builders comes in.
Since 2002, we’ve worked to remove real estate as a barrier to learning by helping mission-driven charter schools open and grow in the communities that need them most. From NYC to cities across the country, Civic Builders has invested more than $2.1 billion in over 100 schools, bringing more than 55,000 students each year closer to the education they deserve.
Our team has the courage to go first and the expertise to deliver. We take smart risks — backing visionary school leaders early, when belief matters a lot. We unite development, lending, and strategic advisory around one shared goal: turning an empty lot, a vacant building, or a long-held dream into a permanent place of pride and progress.
Because when a great school opens, it changes everything. A new facility doesn’t just house classrooms; it anchors hope, stabilizes neighborhoods, and becomes a legacy for generations. Parents walk through bright hallways knowing their children belong. Students excel. Teachers stay. Communities thrive.
We’ve seen what’s possible when bold ideas meet the right partners. And we know the work is far from done. Every day, our team carries forward the same conviction that started it all: that every student deserves an excellent school today — and that when others say no, we find a way to yes.
