Access to Capital
In support of charter facility creation, Civic Builders brings together capital from a variety of sources: private philanthropy; commercial lenders; community development lenders; and city, state and federal government sources. Civic Builders leverages philanthropic and other low-cost capital to attract and source commercial debt for its projects. Civic Builders’ equity provides vital subsidy to its charter partners in the early years and is recycled over time freeing up capital dollars for future charter developments.
By assuming ownership of a school’s facility, Civic Builders becomes a steward of the real estate asset. In the event of consistent underperformance by a charter school, Civic Builders retains the right to re-tenant the facility with another charter school, ensuring that the facility remains a positive education asset in its community.
