Manhattan Institute Honors Civic Builders
The Manhattan Institute recognized Civic Builders with a Social Entrepreneurship Award, which recognizes innovative nonprofit leaders, independent of government, who have helped students, veterans, and educators achieve success. The award was presented November 4, 2010, in New York City.
Established in 2001, the Manhattan Institute Social Entrepreneurship Initiative is supported by the William E. Simon Foundation and JM Kaplan Fund. Nominations are made by outsiders who have supported the organizations that they nominate. After initial screening by Manhattan Institute staff, ten finalists are chosen by the award program’s selection committee, consisting of leaders from the philanthropic and academic community. Winners are chosen only after a site visit to the program and an extended in-person interview.

Bronx Lighthouse is Striking Addition
In July 2007, Boston Society of Architects recognized Bronx Lighthouse for its "Urban Design/Iconic Contribution to Streetscape." The project will be exhibited at "Build Boston" an annual awards exhibit in November and in the end-of-the-year awards issue of ArchitectureBoston, the bimonthly magazine of the Boston Society of Architects.
In acknowledging Bronx Lighthouse for its unique contribution to the neighborhood, the jury noted, "The building façade is a striking addition to the urban neighborhood…The design team provided the street with a gorgeous, colorful presence where once a characterless two-story parking garage stood."
